Unexcused Absences - Parents, please remember that when your child is absent from school for any part of the day, they should return with a written note from you or from the doctor/dentist. An email is acceptable. The note should state the reason for the absence as well as the date(s) of absence. Also, if your child is out for a part of the day for a doctor/dentist appointment and they return with a note from the doctor/dentist, their absence will not be reflected as an absence or tardy.
Did you make at least three ?A's on your report card this six weeks? - If the answer is yes, and you're in elementary through high school, you are eligible for a reward program offered by the Greater Houston Coin Club. Visit their website to find out how you can receive free coins.

Prayer Warrior Club - We are moving the meeting date to the first Thursday of every month. It's not too late to join - 4th, 5th, and 6th graders! If you would like to learn more about how to become an effective prayer warrior, come join us on the 1st Thursday of each month. The next meeting will begin at 8:00 a.m. in Mrs. Belek's classroom, room 243, on Thursday, March 1st.
Gringo's Spirit Day - Parents, mark your calendars for Tuesday, February 28th, when EHCA will host a Spirit Day at Gringo's in east Pearland. Look for more information to come.
Basketball and Cheer Pictures - Girl's/boy's basketball and All Star cheerleader pictures will be taken on Tuesday, February 28th. Students should bring their uniforms to school that day.
Monthly Box Top Winners - Parents, don't forget to clip Box Tops and send them in to your child's teacher. There will be both an upstairs and a downstairs winner each month, so look through the pantry, call the relatives, and rustle up all you can find. So far this year, we've collected over 4,500 box tops. That's equates to over $450 for EHCA. Congratulations to the following classes for submitting the most Box Tops in the month of December/January. Thanks to all who participated. Keep up the good work! Classes will be rewarded with an ice cream party!
Downstairs - Mrs. Baker's Pre K4 class with 474 Tops!!!! That's amazing!
Upstairs - Mrs. Freeman's 3rd grade class with 59 Box Tops!!! Great Job!
I also want to mention Mrs. Belek's 2nd grade class who has consistently brought in lots of Box Tops every month since school started. You guys brought in 233 tops for December and January. Even though you've already won an ice cream party, you continue to clip and bring in those tops and it helps support our school.
Ronald McDonald House - As a Faith in Action project, Eagle Heights will continue to support the Pop Tab Collection Program for the Ronald McDonald House in Houston. We have collected over 26 pounds of pull tabs just since school started! RMDH works with local recycling centers to raise money by collecting tabs from aluminum cans. The funds generated help to house and feed families as they focus on the healing of the hospitalized child.
Spirit Shirts - Spirit shirts are worn to school on spirit days (Fridays) and on field trips. Youth and adult size shirts are available for purchase at the front desk for $10 each.
Birthday Book Club - Don't forget to honor your child's birthday with a membership in the Birthday Book Club! BBC forms are located in the school lobby. Parent volunteers are needed. Please contact Teressa Pavlas @ tpavlas@eagle-heights.org or gtpavlas@sbcglobal.net.
Microwave Use - Parents, please do not send lunch box food that requires heating for students younger than 4th grade. For the safety of our students, the microwaves in the cafeteria are reserved for use by students in 4th grade and up. Thank you for your cooperation.
Paper Recycling - Parents, we have an ABITIBI recycling bin that sits on the northeast corner of the parking lot. Feel free to use it for paper, newspapers, magazines, and mail. Please do not put cardboard (boxes, cereal boxes, soda can boxes) in the bin as they cannot take it.
Accelerated Reading Program - In an effort to encourage our students to become life-long readers, EHCA will continue the AR program. Students can earn points by reading books for pleasure and taking comprehension tests on the book. AR points can be redeemed for prizes. We are excited about this opportunity to partner with you, our families, to instill a desire for reading in your child. The computer lab will be open for AR testing most Monday afternoons from 3:40-4:00pm and Tuesday mornings from 8:00-8:20am.
Product Safety and Recalls - Parents, please be aware of a website maintained by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission with news regarding product safety and recalls. You can go to www.cpsc.gov and click on Recalls and Product Safety News. You can pull up recalls by month or by product type.
Newsletter online - Look for updates to the EHCA weekly newsletter on our website at www.eagle-heights.org. Click on News.
